The multiplication tables check is an in-school assessment for year 4 pupils in which they recall the times tables up to the 12 times table. It takes place annually towards the end of the school year.
The multiplication check is made up of 25 questions about the times tables using online systems in school. Students have 6 seconds to answer each question and the assessment takes around 5 minutes in total.
There is no 'pass mark' for the times tables check. The assessment helps teachers to understand which students know their times tables or where additional support might be needed.
