How do you play Divided Islands for KS3 and GCSE maths revision?

The islands of Ichi have fallen into darkness, and all the bridges between the islands have been destroyed.

Help Kei by completing puzzles to build the broken bridges and you can bring light back to Ichi.

Use your KS3 and GCSE maths skills to answer questions on fractions, decimals, percentages and ratios.

For GCSE you can also answer questions on algebra.

You will:

find equivalent fractions
simplify fractions
find percentages of amounts
convert between fractions, decimals and percentages
simplify ratios
convert between different units and currencies
work with direct and indirect proportion
simplify expressions and rearrange formulae
solve equations

Grateful islanders will reward you with bridge pieces - use these to rebuild the bridges in order to reach more islands.

The game is aimed at students studying maths at both KS3 (years 7, 8 and 9) and GCSE Foundation (years 10 and 11).

The game contains different areas for KS3 and GCSE so you can choose which one you want to play in.

Teachers, parents and carers can also benefit from using the game, to provide extra practice, exam revision and support sessions.

Are there different game play modes?

Yes!

The game has two play modes - story mode and quick play.

Story mode

Available for KS3.

In story mode, explore Ichi and help Kei reunite the islands by solving the maths puzzles.

Move from island to island as you complete the challenges and unlock new ones.

An adventure log will help you on your way and you can collect rewards to customise how you play.

Quick Play

Available for KS3 and GCSE.

Quick Play mode allows you to choose specific topics you want to brush up on and to go straight to puzzles in the game that target them, for focussed practice.

By answering questions correctly, their difficulty level will increase, so you can hone your skills even further!
